Elephant Detection

Elephant detection technology for farmers provides a proactive approach to mitigate human-elephant conflicts by using advanced sensors and data analytics to detect elephant presence and movement in agricultural areas.

Elephant intrusion detection are useful to avoid human elephant conflict as they stray into agriculture areas searching for food, resulting to economic losses and in extreme cases human casualties. Hence a system to detect elephant intrusion into human habitat and to alert the habitat and forest officials is essential.

Proposed Solution

ELEPHANT DETECTION

The approach for the solution for this problem is a two (2) tier solution using proven technologies in IoT.

AI IoT Computer Vision sensors (ASAS GateSight)

Deployed in strategic locations beyond the fences  approximately 300m-500m away as an early warning solution. This is to detect the elephants movement beyond and even before reaching the electric fences in real time and the parameter of the property.

Fence Breach Detection (ASAS GateSense)

Deployed on the fences. This is to detect breaches in the electric fence in real time so the property owner is notified instantly and can deploy necessary actions toward the breach.

AI ioT computer vision sensors (ASAS GateSight)

ASAS GateSight AI IoT Sensors are a robust IP66 rating for extreme outdoor use fully equipped with LoRaWAN Vision AI Sensor combines TinyML AI technology and LoRaWAN long-range transmission to enable a low-power, high-performance AI device solution for both indoor and outdoor use.

This sensor features high-performance, low-power AI vision solution which supports the Google TensorFlow Lite framework and multiple TinyML AI platforms.

Cable based fences are widely used in the prevention of elephant conflict, but they are often subject to damage by elephants. While it is difficult to prevent elephants from attempting to break the fence, it is entirely possible to monitor the fence status remotely, and get an immediate warning whenever a fence breach is in progress.

Sensors placed on the fence’s pole can sense when there is pushing, shaking or bending of the pole. This information is used to send an alert with long range wireless communication. When an alert is received by the Forest Department, quick response teams can be sent to chase back the elephant and repair the fence before it gets breached further.
